Overview

Provides strategic leadership for the safety, quality, and effective management of the council’s housing stock. Oversees statutory compliance, building safety, repairs, and planned maintenance. Drives asset investment and sustainability strategies, ensuring quick turnaround of empty properties to maximise availability. Ensures Norwich homes are safe, well-maintained, and modern, delivering good quality housing for those who need it.

Key responsibilities

  • Building safety and compliance – leads on the safety of buildings within the council’s remit, protecting the health and wellbeing of residents. ensures correct compliance and appropriate reporting across the six key areas of fire, gas, electrical, water, asbestos and lifts.
  • Stock investment and asset management – effectively manages and improvements to housing stock to a high standard, ensuring they are warm, safe and sustainable for the needs of our residents. Develop and implementation of strategies for long-term sustainability and performance of housing assets.
  • Housing repairs and maintenance – oversees responsive repairs and day-to-day maintenance services to ensure homes are safe and well-maintained.
  • Housing voids  responsible for efficient turnaround of empty properties to minimise void times and maximise housing availability.

Property services play a key role in shaping the foundations of our city and influence its direction, setting our sights on the path forward towards sustainability, fairness and accessibility.
