Wheelie bins or bags should be placed close to, but outside of, your property boundary, after 6pm the evening before your collection day and no later than 6am on the day itself. This helps make sure your bins are collected on time.
What to put in
Use your black bin or sack for non-recyclable waste.
What not to put in
- DIY waste (bricks, tiles, wood)
- Electrical items (toasters, phones, kettles)
- Hazardous waste (paint, batteries, chemicals)
What to do instead
- Put small electrical items, batteries or clothes in separate bags
- Leave them next to your bin on collection day
- if the bin truck is too full, your bag might not be taken. If that happens, just leave it out again next week. You don’t need to tell anyone.
