Everyone deserves a wage that reflects the true cost of living. In Norwich, we’re working to make that a reality - by championing the Real Living Wage and encouraging employers to go beyond the minimum.
The Real Living Wage is a voluntary rate set by the Living Wage Foundation. It’s designed to ensure workers earn enough to cover the actual cost of living - unlike the lower National Living Wage set by the government.
Norwich City Council has proudly held Living Wage accreditation since 2012.
We're working with local businesses and organisations to end low pay in our city.
Too many people in Norwich earn less than they need to live. That’s why we’re part of a city-wide campaign to become a Living Wage City, tackling in-work poverty and building a fairer, stronger local economy.
In October 2025, the Living Wage Foundation announced new rates:
