Designated bathing waters
There are currently no designated bathing waters in Norwich.
To be officially classed as a ‘designated bathing water’ an application must be made to and approved by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), demonstrating that certain criteria are met regarding how often the site is used for this purpose. The council has undertaken consultation in support of a recent designated bathing water application.
Several coastal locations in Norfolk are designated bathing waters and monitored during the bathing seasons (May-September). You can view a list of designed bathing waters on the gov.uk website.
