Food hygiene training courses

We offer two training options for businesses and individuals who work with food to help you meet legal requirements and make sure the food you prepare and serve is safe for customers.

1. CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Safety

This one‑day course is for anyone who works with food, whether it is open or wrapped.

During the day, you will learn the full course content and then take a 20‑question multiple‑choice test. You need 14 correct answers to pass. Everyone who passes will receive an official CIEH certificate.

What the course covers:

  • food law
  • food safety hazards
  • food safety management systems
  • taking temperatures
  • cooking
  • hot holding and re-heating foods
  • food handlers
  • principles of food storage
  • delivery and storage
  • cleaning
  • food premises and equipment

Course times and venue

Wednesdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

2. Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) Workshop

The SFBB pack, produced by the Food Standards Agency, is recommended by Norwich City Council for most food businesses. If used properly, it meets the legal requirement for having a written food safety management system.

This workshop is an introduction to using the SFBB pack. It is mainly for the person responsible for putting the SFBB system in place (normally the food business operator or head chef). Other staff who use the pack may also find it useful.

Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9.30am to 1pm.
