Find current fees for burials, cremations, and memorials across Norwich cemeteries.

Burial information – effective from 1 April 2025

  • All prices and procedures apply to standard-sized coffins (6’10” long × 2’6” wide × 1’3” deep).
  • If a larger coffin is needed, alternative burial arrangements may be required. This could include using a different plot or location for operational reasons.
  • The council is not responsible for any extra costs related to larger coffins or alternative arrangements requested or required by families.

Exhumation and reopening information 

  • Standard Exhumation: Subject to VAT if the body is not being reburied. The final resting place must be confirmed when booking.
  • Cremated Remains: Also subject to VAT if the ashes are not being reburied. Exhumation is only possible if the ashes were interred in a container. If they cannot be identified, the fee is non-refundable.

Permissions required

Exhumation can only take place with the correct legal permissions, which may include:

  • a licence from the Ministry of Justice
  • a faculty from the Church of England

These must be obtained by the person requesting the exhumation.
