Street trading and market stall licence

This licence allows you to sell goods or services in public spaces or run a stall in a stationary designated market area.

Licence conditions

  • Only the goods listed in your licence can be sold.
  • Generators are not permitted.
  • Trading must stay within your stall area.
  • All items must be cleared away at the end of each day.
  • Public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £5 million.

Licence duration and renewal

  • Licences are valid until the end of the calendar year.
  • To renew, submit a new application when your current licence expires.

Appeals

  • You cannot appeal a decision, but we’ll explain why your application was declined.
  • You can reapply as many times as you wish.

Pedlars certificate

Alternatively, you can seek a pedlar's certificate direct from Norfolk Police 

A Pedlar’s Certificate allows individuals to legally sell goods door-to-door across the UK.
It’s valid for 12 months and requires applicants to trade on foot and meet residency criteria.
