Empty property rate relief

Owners of vacant business properties can receive a temporary period without business rates while the property remains empty.

If a property becomes vacant, you won’t have to pay business rates for a limited time:

  • 3 months for most properties
  • 6 months for industrial properties (like warehouses or factories)
