More women and girls will be able to play football at Eaton Park thanks to transformative improvements to its changing rooms, marking the start of a new era for one of Norwich’s most cherished green spaces.
The project, led by Norwich City Council, delivers modern, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable facilities designed to enhance the experience for all visitors.
The upgrades include:
- Accessible changing rooms – fully refurbished to meet the needs of all players and visitors.
- Sustainability features – solar panels installed to reduce energy costs and carbon footprint.
- Inclusive design – facilities and pathways improved for better accessibility, ensuring everyone can enjoy the park.
These changes mean more local football teams can take advantage of FA-compliant facilities, while the park continues to serve as a hub for community activity and wellbeing.
Councillor Mike Stonard, chair of Greater Norwich Growth Boad, said:
“It is wonderful to see such an important improvement in this magnificent park.
“The new and improved changing rooms will open up new opportunities for women and girls to play football, as well as other park users taking part in the range of activities on offer.
“We are particularly pleased to see the solar panels and efficiency features that support our citywide net zero ambitions, as a climate responsive council.
The project forms part of Norwich City Council’s wider investment in parks and leisure spaces, supporting health, wellbeing, and environmental goals across the city.
