A major milestone in the regeneration of Anglia Square has been reached today with the start of demolition of the site’s multi storey carpark.
The redevelopment of Anglia Square is being led by the investment partnership between Aviva Capital Partners and Norwich City Council with funding from Homes England.
It will deliver 1,100 new homes, with 50 percent affordable in the first two phases, plus a range of retail spaces, community and leisure facilities.
Councillor Mike Stonard, leader of Norwich City Council, said: “We have reached a major milestone in the demolition of Anglia Square.
“It shows we are on track to meet our historic commitment to deliver over 1000 homes, hundreds of jobs and spark off increased prosperity for the NR3 community and the wider city.”
Ben Luckett, Chair of Aviva Capital Partners, said: "This project will breathe new life into the Anglia Square site, delivering new homes, including affordable and social housing, alongside new leisure, retail, and community spaces. Seeing the demolition of the old site progress is an important step toward transforming this part of the city and creating a vibrant new neighbourhood."

The demolition stage of the Anglia Square development, which is being carried out by DSM Demolition Ltd, will continue over the coming months finishing in the spring then paving the way for building work.
