Before reporting a vehicle, please read the guidance below to check whether enforcement action may be possible.
You can report
You should report vehicles parked in locations where parking restrictions apply, including:
- on single or double yellow lines
- in residents' parking bays without a valid permit
- in disabled bays without displaying a valid Blue Badge
- in pay and display bays without payment
- in other parking bays or restricted areas where signs or road markings indicate parking controls are in force
Situations where enforcement may not be possible
Sometimes a vehicle may appear to be parked inconsiderately, but parking enforcement officers may not be able to issue a penalty charge notice.
This may include:
- vehicles parked on roads where there are no yellow lines or parking restrictions
- vehicles parked partly or fully on the pavement where no parking restrictions apply
- vehicles parked on grass verges where no restrictions are in place
- vehicles parked near a junction where there are no waiting restrictions
- locations that are not enforced
- caravans or trailers that are not attached to a vehicle
Check before reporting
Before submitting a report, it is worth checking:
- whether there are signs or road markings nearby
- whether parking restrictions apply at the location
- that the vehicle is still present
- that you have the vehicle registration number and location details
Dangerous or obstructive parking
If a vehicle is causing an immediate danger, blocking emergency access, or creating a serious obstruction, it may be a matter for the police rather than parking enforcement.
