Access to green spaces

Getting to the parks

Norwich’s parks are easily accessible by public transport and car:

  • Park & Ride: operates from six locations including Thickthorn, Harford, Sprowston, and Postwick. Buses run every 10–15 minutes from early morning to late evening. Adult day tickets start at £3.
  • Public transport: Norwich Bus and Train Stations are fully accessible, offering step-free access, tactile maps, and assistance services.
  • Parking: free and paid parking is available near most parks. Blue Badge holders can access designated spaces across the city.

Accessibility features

Norwich parks aim to be inclusive and welcoming:

  • Toilets: accessible toilets are available in major parks like Eaton Park and Waterloo Park.
  • Paths and seating: parks feature step-free paths, benches, and well-lit walkways. Eaton Park includes floodlit areas and accessible routes.
  • Mobility support: Shopmobility services offer free wheelchair and scooter hire at Chantry Place.

Safety and park rules

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

  • Respect signage and park staff instructions.
  • Dogs must be kept under control; some areas may require leads.
  • Open fires and barbecues are not permitted unless in designated areas.
  • Dispose of litter responsibly; bins are provided throughout the parks.
  • Cycling is allowed on designated paths only.

Seasonal opening hours

Most parks are open year-round, with seasonal variations in facility hours:

Eaton Park

Open daily, 24 hours. 

Toilets open:

  • March–April and September–October: 8am–7:30pm
  • May–August: 8am–8:30pm
  • November–February: 8am–4:30pm

Waterloo Park

Open daily
