Norwich is home to an impressive network of parks, gardens and green spaces, offering residents and visitors a rich tapestry of nature, recreation, and community life.

From tranquil gardens and vibrant playgrounds to sports areas and allotments, these spaces are thoughtfully managed by Norwich City Council in collaboration with the Norwich Fringe Project, Norwich City Services Ltd, and dedicated volunteers.

Why parks and open spaces matter

Green spaces are more than just scenic retreats—they are vital to the health and wellbeing of our city.

Here are just a few of the benefits they bring:

  • health and wellbeing: parks encourage physical activity, reduce stress, and support mental health
  • community connection: they provide inclusive spaces for social interaction, events, and volunteering
  • environmental impact: green spaces support biodiversity, improve air quality, and help manage urban temperatures
  • economic value: attractive parks enhance property values and contribute to tourism and local business.
