Report roads and pavement issues

If you spot an issue on a road or pavement - like potholes, broken surfaces or something blocking the way - you can report it to Norfolk County Council. They’re responsible for keeping public roads and pavements safe and in good condition.

Who looks after roads and pavements?

The County Council is responsible for most maintenance and safety issues on public roads and pavements. If you notice a problem, they’re the ones to contact.

Here are some of the things they take care of:

  • potholes – holes or cracks in the road surface
  • gritting – spreading salt to prevent ice in cold weather
  • dropped kerbs – lowered pavement edges for easier access
  • damaged pavements – broken or uneven surfaces
  • trees and hedges – trimming or removing those that block roads or paths
  • obstructions and spillages – clearing things that block or dirty the road
  • road markings – repainting faded or missing lines
  • road signs and traffic lights – fixing faults or damage
  • blocked drains and flooding – clearing water or debris
  • A-boards – managing advertising boards on pavements
  • manhole covers – repairing or replacing damaged ones
  • heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and abnormal loads – managing large or unusual transport
  • licences for hoardings, scaffolding and skips – giving permission for temporary structures on public land
