Consultation closed Sunday 4 September 2022.
The city council would like your views on the draft Contaminated Land Strategy.
The draft strategy being consulted on is an update of the previous strategy (2009) and includes changes in legislation.
Under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Norwich City Council has a duty to inspect the land within its area to identify contaminated sites and act as an enforcing authority for contaminated land. The identification and safe re-use of contaminated land plays a key part in the sustainable development of the area.
The strategy provides guidance on the approach for the ongoing programme of inspection and remediation of land.
Consultation responses will be considered, and amends made accordingly, before formal adoption by cabinet. The adopted strategy will then be available online on the council’s website.
