Polling Districts and Polling Places Review 2024-25

Norwich City Council is to complete a review of polling districts and polling places in its area. This is to ensure that the polling districts are correct prior to the boundary changes for Norfolk County Council Divisions that will come into effect for the elections on 1 May 2025. These will also be in place for any other local or national elections.

The review process

The review is designed to see if the polling districts and polling places in Norwich suit the needs of voters, and includes:

• polling district boundaries within each ward in the city
• location of the polling places and stations in each polling district
• access to each polling station

The aim of the review is:

• to ensure that all electors in the Norwich area have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances
• all electors have a polling station that is convenient to where they live
• to ensure as far as it is reasonable and practicable, that all polling places are accessible to all electors.

The Acting Returning Officer's (ARO's) proposals

The ARO's proposed recommendations for future polling districts and polling places have been published.

The review will not consider ward, divisions or parliamentary constituencies boundaries and will not consider polling districts and places outside the scope of the review.

How to take part

The deadline to comment on the proposed changes or make any other suggestions on our existing polling stations is Thursday 5 December 2024.

The council welcomes views or comments from any elector and those with expertise in access to premises or facilities for persons with a disability.

When making representations about a polling place/station, it would be helpful if you could provide as much relevant information as you can, including:

• how convenient (or not) the location is in relation to where you live
• whether there is adequate parking
• what access is available for disabled and/or wheelchair users
• how suitable overall it is for voting

Privacy

The information you provide in your response will be used to identify if facilities in the polling stations are fit for purpose and reasonably accessible to the voters who are allocated to it.

This will help the council make decisions when considering the designation of a polling station.

Personal data you provide such as your email or home address and any information you may include will be kept private and confidential and will not be shared. It will only be used as part of this review.

Any report published will have all personal data removed or anonymised.
