Norwich City Council is required to review all polling districts and polling places every five years. The last full review was in 2019, with interim updates in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Current review timeline

  • Review period: From 2 October 2023 to 31 January 2025
  • Purpose: To prepare for:
    • Norwich City Council elections – 2 May 2024
    • Police and Crime Commissioner elections – 2 May 2024
    • Any UK General Election held on or after 2 May 2024

What the review covers

We’re assessing whether polling arrangements meet the needs of voters, including:

  • Boundaries of polling districts within each ward
  • Locations of polling places and stations
  • Accessibility of polling stations

We want your feedback

We aim to ensure:

  • All voters have reasonable access to polling stations
  • Polling places are accessible to disabled voters

We especially welcome feedback from:

  • Disabled residents
  • Experts in accessibility

17 October – 16 November 2023 Publication of Acting Returning Officer's (ARO's) proposals and start of public consultation.
Week commencing 27 November 2023 (TBC) Polling District Review Working Party Group to agree on ARO's proposals and amend where required.
6 December 2023 – 4 January 2024 Consultation on (revised) ARO's proposals as agreed by the Polling District Review Working Party Group.
Week commencing 8 January 2024 (TBC) Polling District Review Working Party Group to agree polling district review to recommend changes to council.
30 January 2024 Full meeting of council to agree changes.
2 May 2024 New polling districts and agreed polling places and stations in force.

Proposed changes

Catton Grove Ward

  • CG2 (Mile Cross Methodist Church) – Remove polling district
  • CG3 (Catton Grove Community Centre) – Rename to CG2; expand area
  • CG4 (Oak Grove Chapel) – Rename to CG3; adjust boundaries
  • CG5 (Shipfields Community Centre) – Rename to CG4

Eaton Ward

EA4 – Change venue from Church of the Latter Day Saints to Eaton St Andrews Church Hall

Lakenham Ward

LA3/LA3A/LA3B – Change venue from The Flint Rooms to Carrow House, Bracondale

Mile Cross Ward

  • MX1 (St Lukes Church Centre) – Remove several streets
  • MX3 (Community Room, Larners Way) – Add those streets

Thorpe Hamlet Ward

EA4 – Change venue from Wensum Lodge to Dragon Hall, King Street
