Overview
Provides strategic leadership for the safety, quality and effective management of council-owned homes. Oversees statutory compliance, building safety, repairs and planned maintenance, while driving asset investment and sustainability strategies and maximising housing availability through the efficient turnaround of empty properties. Ensures Norwich's homes are safe, well-maintained and modern, delivering high-quality housing for those who need it.
Key responsibilities
- Building safety and compliance – leads on the safety of buildings within the council’s remit, protecting the health and wellbeing of residents. ensures correct compliance and appropriate reporting across the six key areas of fire, gas, electrical, water, asbestos and lifts.
- Investment and asset management – ensures improvements to our homes are to a high standard, and meet the needs of our residents. Develops and implements strategies for long-term sustainability and performance of our housing assets.
- Housing repairs and maintenance – oversees responsive repairs and day-to-day maintenance services to ensure homes are safe and well-maintained.
- Empty homes – responsible for efficient turnaround of empty properties to maximise availability of good quality council homes.
