Norwich City Council budget 2026–27: what you need to know

Each year, Norwich City Council sets a budget to plan how money will be spent on local services - from waste collection and housing to parks and community support. Here's a quick guide to this year's budget process and how you can get involved.

Public consultation:

4 December 2025 until Sunday 18 January 2026.

Budget 2026-27 consultation (on Get Talking Norwich)

This is your chance to have a say! Residents and businesses can share their views on the council’s spending priorities. 

Draft budget presented to cabinet:

Councillors review the proposed budget and make recommendations.

Final budget approved by full council:

All 39 elected councillors vote to agree the final budget.

Budget year starts:

1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027

The new budget comes into effect.

How the budget is set

The budget is decided by the full council - 39 democratically elected councillors who represent the people of Norwich. Before any decisions are made, the council runs a public consultation to gather feedback from residents and local businesses. Your input helps shape the final proposals.
