What you can recycle

Clean packaging such as cardboard, cans, and plastics goes in your blue recycling bin

Small electricals, batteries and textiles

Even a small battery can cause a serious fire. Many everyday items contain lithium-ion batteries. If these items are put in your rubbish or recycling bin, they could be crushed or damaged and catch fire.

Do not put small electrical items, mobile phones, batteries, vapes or textiles in your rubbish or recycling bin.

If you have your own wheelie bin

Put small electrical items, batteries, vapes and clothes in separate tied bags.
Leave them on top of or next to your wheelie bin on collection day.
If they are not collected, take the bags back in and put them out again on your next collection day.

If you have communal wheelie bins

We do not offer small electrical, battery or textile collections for homes with communal bins.

You can take your used batteries to your local supermarket for recycling. Find your nearest battery recycling point using the Battrecycle map.

Larger items

For large electrical items such as TVs and fridges:

Take them to a recycling centre.
If you cannot transport them yourself, arrange a bulky (large) item collection.
