This is the council’s main decision making body. It is made up of a small number of councillors, called cabinet members. They each have responsibility for particular service areas of the council (eg housing, sustainable city development, waste and recycling, planning, finance).

Together, the cabinet members recommend a budget each year which needs approval from full council. They are also responsible for making decisions necessary to deliver council services within the agreed budget and policies.
