The food hygiene rating scheme helps customers choose places with good hygiene, like restaurants, cafés, takeaways, pubs and supermarkets.
After an unannounced inspection, your business will get a rating from 0 to 5:

Inspectors look at:
You’ll get a report explaining any issues and how to improve. You’ll also receive a sticker to display your rating.
You can appeal within 21 days if you think the rating is unfair.
You can explain any improvements or unusual circumstances. This will be shown with your rating.
If you’ve made improvements, you can pay £225 for a new inspection. There’s no limit on how many times you can request this.
