Improve your local area with a Love Norwich Grant

Residents and community groups who have ideas to improve their local outdoor spaces are being invited to apply for ‘Love Norwich’ grants. Find out more at gettalking.norwich.gov.uk/grants.

What will the council and NCSL be doing?

Norwich City Council and NCSL will be emptying litter bins in key areas more often, street washing in city centre hot spots and putting in place robust measures to tackle littering, fly-tipping and graffiti. We are also replacing a number of city centre litter bins with larger, more modern alternatives.

The first phase of the Love Norwich – play your part campaign has already started, and the council has written to businesses in the city centre detailing measures they should adopt to help keep Norwich tidy. There are new set hours for trade waste to be put out for collection, in a move to keep the centre of Norwich clean and tidy and free of bin bags, trade bins and pallets during the day.

The city council is also holding a series of clean up events in areas identified as being hot spots for fly-tipping. These events will see teams from the council and NCSL remove any fly-tipping, clean graffiti from public buildings in the area, take off any dried paint from pavements, tidy up grass edging, sweep hard surfaces and tidy up shrubs.

They will also be on hand to talk to local residents about any issues they have with environmental crime and give advice on reporting these to the council.
