Cultural and community organisations are being invited to apply for grants of up to £7,500 to help bring events, festivals and creative activities to life across Norwich.
Norwich City Council’s Small Culture Grants support projects which contribute to We Are Norwich – A community-led plan and the Creative City ambitions of the Norwich 2040 City Vision.
Grants of between £500 and £7,500 are available for projects starting in the 2026/27 financial year and running for up to 12 months.
Last year, 12 projects received funding, supporting a diverse range of cultural activities across the city.
These included theatre created by, with and for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, performing arts and mentoring for children and young people, festivals celebrating Norwich’s history and heritage, sustainable costumes for a dance group and venue costs for a community music group.
Activities took place in neighbourhoods across Norwich, in venues ranging from theatres and parks to the city’s streets.
Cllr Jenny Knight, cabinet member for culture and wellbeing, said:
“Norwich’s creative community are the key to our local culture and our Small Culture Grants help organisations turn great ideas into great experiences that folk from across the city can enjoy and take part in.
“Last year’s projects show just how varied that can be – from music, theatre and dance to celebrating our city’s history and heritage.
“We want to continue supporting projects which bring people together, open up opportunities to experience culture and help Norwich flourish as a creative and vibrant city of stories.”
New two-stage application process
This year, the council is trialling a simpler two-stage application process.
Organisations interested in applying should first complete a short Expression of Interest form. This initial stage will establish whether a project is eligible and suitable for a Small Culture Grant, helping applicants avoid spending time completing a full application where their project does not meet the criteria.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is Wednesday 30 September 2026.
Eligible applicants whose projects are suitable for the scheme will receive details of how to complete a full application by Monday 12 October 2026.
