Exciting upgrades coming to Heartsease and Eaton Skateparks!

Two of Norwich’s favourite skateparks - Heartsease Recreation Ground and Eaton Park - are getting a fresh new look! Norwich City Council is teaming up with skatepark experts Betongpark to create fun, inclusive spaces for everyone who enjoys wheeled sports like skateboarding, BMX, scooting, roller skating, and WCMX (wheelchair motocross).

Heartsease Skatepark: a mini ramp with a twist

The concept aims to create a unique, playful, combined social activity space, while paying tribute to the previous facilities on site, including the iconic, sculptural concrete transition in the park, as well as the existing metal mini ramp.

The design for Heartsease has been developed to reflect comments at consultation:

  • a larger footprint to cater for the local rollerblading community, including a raised berm to offer an area for gentle challenges
  • a more creative transition from than the mini ramp with the addition of pool coping
  • additional seating and space to socialise, as such a new covered hangout area has been located in the corner of the space.

This unique, one-of-a-kind space will also speak to the other wheeled sport facilities being built in the area, complimenting the new plaza style extension to Eaton skatepark

Eaton Skatepark: a new plaza-style extension

Eaton Park’s upgrade will add a plaza-style section designed for all wheeled sports, including:

  • skateboarding, BMX, scooting, rollerblading, and WCMX
  • a smooth connection to the existing park, so riders can flow between areas
  • new features not currently available, offering fresh challenges for all skill levels
  • a space shaped by feedback from local riders, making it welcoming for beginners and pros alike.
