The government announced a new COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF) of £1.5 billion. The fund will be available to support those businesses affected by the pandemic but that are ineligible for existing support linked to business rates. The aim of this scheme is to provide business rates relief for the financial year 2021/22 to those who have been adversely affected by the pandemic and have been unable to adequately adapt to that impact. Eligible businesses You may be eligible for this relief if you are/were: Registered to pay business rates on 31 January 2022 In occupation of the business property Adversely affected by the pandemic and have been unable to adequately adapt to that impact Exclusions You will not be eligible for this relief if you are/were: Eligible for the Extended Retail Discount or Nursery Discount Not in occupation of the business property Not registered for Business Rates or did not have an entry in the rating list on 31 January 2022 Already In receipt of full relief (for example: the full award of small business rate relief) Payment This fund will take the form of a one-off business rate relief applied to your business rates account for the financial year 2021/22. The relief will be calculated as a fixed percentage (45%) of net liability with a limit of £25,000 relief per eligible property. We will review all of the information you have supplied and if you meet the eligibility criteria then a revised adjustment notice will be sent to your normal address or email account where you have signed up for electronic bills. If your business rates account has been placed into credit as a result of this relief then we will arrange for this to be offset across your 2022/23 bill. Norwich City Council has been asked to process the grants on behalf of the Government. We are required to hold specific data in order for payments to be made and therefore, to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible, we require you to complete this online form. You must complete one form for every eligible trading premises. Before you start You will need to provide evidence to clearly show the following: Evidence of occupation of the rateable property (e.g. current under 3 months old utility bill such as gas, electric, water or landline) Evidence of rent, lease of rateable property Evidence of named holder of bank account for the business (e.g. copy of bank statement) Ensure you have your documents ready to upload and saved to your computer before you start. Any business who accepts this funding must confirm they comply with all the applicable Subsidy requirements. Businesses who accept this funding must also provide information requested by the Local Authority to support monitoring and assurance. Any business caught falsifying their records to gain grant money will face prosecution and any funding issued will be subject to recovery, as may any grants paid in error.
