Student voting in Norwich – what you need to know

Studying in Norwich? You might be eligible to vote locally while you're here. Whether you're new to voting or just unsure where to start, we've got everything you need to know about registering and making your voice heard.

Can I vote as a student?

Yes! If you're studying and living in Norwich, you can vote in local elections if you're registered at your term-time address.

Who can register to vote?

You can register if you:

  • are 18 (or will be before the end of the register year: 1 Dec – 30 Nov).
  • are a British, Irish, Commonwealth, or EU citizen.

Need help registering?

If you don’t have internet access or need help, you can:

  • Request a paper form from the council
  • Call 0344 980 3333 to register by phone 

Can I vote at home and at uni?

Local elections: Yes, if your home and uni are in different council areas.
General elections: No – you can only vote once. Voting twice is a criminal offence.
