Norwich City Council is the data controller for ensuring food safety within Norwich and we have a statutory authority to process your personal information.

We use it to process the information you give us to investigate complaints, inspect premises and take part in sampling programmes. This includes the use of body worn cameras (BWCs) worn by Council operatives.
We intend to keep your data for seven years as stated in our Retention Schedule available on our website.

If data is not provided we may not be able to fully investigate your food safety complaints.
Information provided for food safety investigations is shared with other local authorities, the Health and Safety Executive and the Food Standards Agency in order that they may carry out their statutory duties.
We may also share your details externally where we are lawfully required to do so for the prevention and detection of crime and fraud, or for the collection of taxes in order that they may carry out their statutory duties.
Apart from where previously stated, we do not pass your details to third parties unless we are lawfully able to do so for the prevention and detection of crime and fraud, or for the collection of taxes.
