About us

Norwich City Council is the data controller for the housing innovation and improvement team, which produces and distributes the tenants and leaseholder magazine. This publication is part of our statutory duty to keep residents informed about housing-related matters, including health and safety, tenant satisfaction, and service updates.

You may contact our data protection and information security officer by emailing DPO@norwich.gov.uk or by calling 0344 980 3333.

What will we do with your data?

We use your contact details, including email addresses, to send you the tenants and leaseholder magazine. This is a mandatory communication under the Social Housing Regulation Act and is provided to ensure you are kept informed about important housing-related matters.

Your data will only be used for the purpose of distributing the magazine and will not be used for direct marketing or unrelated activities.

What are your rights?

You have the right to request access to your personal information to:

  • ask for errors to be corrected
  • restrict how your information is used
  • object to how it is processed
  • request that your data is deleted

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office if you are not happy with how your data is processed.

What are the consequences of you not providing data?

As this is a statutory communication, we are required to provide the magazine to all tenants and leaseholders. However, you may request the magazine in an alternative format (e.g., paper or email) to suit your needs.

How will we share your data?

Apart from where previously stated, we do not pass your details to third parties unless we are lawfully required to do so for the prevention and detection of crime and fraud, or for the collection of taxes.
