Memorials

Planning a memorial? Here’s what you need to know about the rules, design options, and how to apply.

Memorials are a meaningful way to honor and remember loved ones. They provide a lasting tribute and they can take many forms, such as headstones, plaques, or monuments. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure memorials are safe, respectful, and in keeping with the natural and historical surroundings of our cemeteries.

How to apply for a Memorial

To arrange a memorial, you’ll need to contact a qualified stonemason. They will:

  • Help you choose a design that meets cemetery rules.
  • Complete the application form on your behalf.
  • Make sure the memorial is installed safely and to national standards.

Only stonemasons registered with NAMM or BRAMM can carry out this work. They will also advise you on insurance, which is required before installation.

We encourage families to contact Bereavement Services for advice and to submit a pre-application for any unique designs. Our team is here to help you through the process and ensure that your memorial reflects your wishes while meeting safety and legal requirements.
