Stonemasons

If you’re a stonemason working in Earlham or Rosary Cemetery, please follow these important rules to keep memorials safe and compliant.

Working in Earlham or Rosary cemetery

If you want to put up or fix a memorial in Earlham or Rosary Cemetery, these rules apply:

  • Insurance:
You must have Public Liability Insurance and show proof before you start work.
  • Follow Safety Rules:
All new memorials must meet British safety standard BS8415. Masons should follow BRAMM (British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons) Blue Book guidelines. These cover:
    • Ground conditions
    • Foundation design
    • How the memorial is put together

If a memorial does not meet these rules, the burial authority can ask for it to be fixed within 28 days.

  • Marking the Memorial:
Every memorial must show the section and plot number clearly on the stone.

Please make sure you have the grant holder’s details and give the correct fee to your customer.
