Money and debt advice

Struggling with debt? Find out what support is available.

Help with debt

If you're having trouble paying your Council Tax, rent, or other money you owe to the council, please contact us as soon as possible. We may be able to help.

We want to support residents to stay in their homes. We can work with you to:

  • manage your debts
  • offer budgeting advice
  • set up payment plans that suit your situation

What to do if you’re in debt

Don’t ignore your debt, it won’t go away.

If we don’t hear from you, we may have to start recovery action. We’ll send you a letter explaining what you owe and how we can help. Please contact us as soon as you get a letter from us.

If you're worried about paying your rent, Council Tax, or other bills, call us on 0344 980 3333. We can refer you to our money advisers or connect you with an independent advice service.
