Elections 2026

Information about the upcoming Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council elections.

Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council elections will be held on Thursday 7 May 2026. This follows the Government announcement made on 16 February 2026.

Norwich City Council

There are 39 elected councillors across the city’s 13 wards, with three councillors representing each ward.

We elect by thirds, which means one councillor per ward is up for election every year during a four-year term of office, except for the fourth year when there are no Norwich City Council elections. This means 13 council seats are always up for election each year when elections are held.

However, this year, one additional seat is up in Wensum due to the resignation of a councillor in that ward.

The next election will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026
