Step gently back in time and join us for a most enchanting evening of words, candlelight, and theatrical delight… 165 years after Dickens himself performed at The Halls.
Inspired by his visits to St Andrew’s Hall in 1859 and 1861, we invite you to experience the magic as it might once have been - warm, vivid, and alive. Local writer, director and actor David Lambert, will bring to life the wit, sorrow, humour, and humanity of Dickens in a live dramatic reading, with musical accompaniment.
Whether you are a lifelong admirer of Dickens or simply curious to hear his words carried on, all are warmly welcomed. Bring friends, family, or simply yourself, and settle in for an evening that promises a touch of class and history.
- Free event - all are welcome but you must book tickets
- Live dramatic performance of sections from Nicholas Nickleby
- Table seating so you can relax with a drink from the bar
Running time: 7pm - 8.40pm (with interval 7.40pm - 8pm)
This is a Heritage Open Days event and tickets will be available on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 10:00am.
