Our council offices and phone lines will close at 4pm on Wednesday 24 December and reopen at 9am on Monday 5 January 2026.

Types of committees - Planning applications
This committee looks at planning applications submitted to the Council. It also makes sure planning rules are being followed.
They usually review:
- big or complex developments
- applications that have received objections (especially if planning officers recommend approval)
- proposals that don’t follow existing planning policies.
- Applications that have been called-in to the Committee by Councillors
