What is the Cabinet?

The Cabinet is the group of councillors who are appointed by the Leader of the Council and form the Executive who make key decisions. Each Cabinet Member looks after a specific area - like housing, city development, waste and recycling, planning, or finance.

Each year, the Cabinet puts together a budget plan, which then needs to be approved by the full council. Once that’s done, they’re in charge of making sure council services run smoothly and stay within budget.
