Your Vote Matters – Make sure you have your say

Norwich City Council election

There will be an election in Norwich on Thursday 4 May 2023.

The count will be held on Friday 5 May 2023, at The Halls, Norwich. The count will start at 10am and we estimate results to start coming through around 1pm.

Election results

To have your say, you will need to make sure you are registered to vote before Monday 17 April at 11:59pm.

You can then vote:

  • by post – deadline to apply: Tuesday 18 April, 5pm
  • at a polling station – on Thursday 4 May between 7am and 10pm
  • by proxy – deadline to apply: Tuesday 25 April, 5pm. Please note: if switching from postal to proxy, the deadline was Tuesday 18 April, 5pm)

Voter ID

If you vote at a polling station, you will now need photo ID.

If you do not have photo ID from the government’s approved list, apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by Tuesday 25 April, 5pm 


The elections office is responsible for all elections and electoral registration in Norwich.
