Leaseholders' guide – what you need to know - Caretaker service

Some buildings have a caretaker who helps look after the communal areas. Most caretakers visit every two weeks, but some sites have a caretaker on-site daily. If your building has a daily caretaker, their contact details will be displayed on the ground floor notice board or another visible spot.

If you need to report a problem, you can:

Caretakers help with the following tasks (where needed):

  • cleaning stairs, landings, lifts, and shared floors
  • unblocking rubbish chutes and tidying bin rooms
  • reporting large items of rubbish
  • removing small graffiti and reporting larger graffiti
  • picking up litter
  • reporting vandalism
  • reporting repairs needed in shared areas
  • responding to emergencies and security issues
  • checking services like bin collection and window cleaning

If your building receives this service, the cost will be included in your service charges.
